I am a native speaker of American English. I was born in Michigan, and lived there for the first 20 years of my life. Since 1986, I have been living in California. My parents came to America from England, so I have a little bit of a British accent. I will teach American English, but (if wanted) I can explain differences between the two dialects. I speak French and Spanish fluently, and I also speak Italian pretty well. I have a working knowledge of German.

I had long planned on teaching as my second career. My first career was in engineering. I worked as an engineer in the public sector for three decades, and recently retired. Although my first college degrees were in engineering, I have long had a great interest in language studies. Along the way, I learned French, Spanish, and Italian (mostly through university coursework), and I obtained an M.A. in Linguistics. On retiring from my engineering work, I pursued a second M.A. in Romance Languages. I started teaching with mYngle in September of 2023, and I love it! Whatever your level of knowledge of English, I will meet you where you are, and I will be patient.
