I was born and raised in the United States, but have also lived abroad in South Korea for 3 months and in Ukraine for 2 years.I have travelled extensively throughout the United States. I have lived in Utah, Iowa, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania. I grew up playing several sports inclugin softball, soccer, basketball and running on the cross-country and track teams. Now I enjoy playing basketball and coaching my daughter's basketball team, playing voleyball, and attedning Zumba and Yoga classes at my local gym. I also enjoy camping, hiking, and canoeing with my childen and husband. I love to read both novels and biographies. I also enjoy staying on top of current events and world news. I enjoy cooking international food occasionally, although I find the daily task of cooking for my family less than rewarding. My favorite restaurants are Korean, Thai, Greek, Mexican, and Indian. Teaching English is fulfiiling for me when my students make progress and reach thier goals.

I have 10+ years teaching experience. I have taught both in a classroom setting and online. I have taught students from all over the world including: Korea, Japan, Russian, Ukraine, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peurto Rico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Moldova, and more. I have taught grammar, reading, writing, listening/speaking classes to all levels of language learners. I have been a personal tutor and helped students with accent reduction. I became interested in second language acquisition at the young age of 10 when my parents adopted 3 children from South Korea. I lived in a community in the state of Minnesota that welcomed many refugees from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, so I started tutoring my peers at school at the age of 12. As a university student I privately tutored Korean students, and travelled to South Korea when I was 19 to teach English for the summer. The next year I was studying Russian in order to serve a mission for my church in Ukraine, where I weekly taught free English classes. Upon graduating university with a BA in Linguistics and a minor in TESOL and Russian, I worked for a few years at a few different language schools teaching the 4 basics of reading, writing, grammar, and listening/speaking in classroom settings. Later I volunteered teachin English to Russian and Croation immigrants. For this past year I have been teaching English online as a tutor, and have enjoyed seeing the progress of individual students as I tailor lessons to their needs and goals, whether it be improving grammar usage, expanding vocabulary, or accent reduction.
