Dear Yasuko, another marvellous session. This time the predominant theme was talking about habits, traits (characteristics) and describing them. This led to good practice of almost all tenses, with particular emphasis on "would" "will" "used to" "usually". You managed to use all these, but remember to use them in the negative e.g, "He wouldn't always remember..." "She usedn't to be like that but..." or "she never used to be like that, however the years seem to have ....".I missed mentioning "to get used to" which we'll have a look at during the next session. Yet again, we managed to take our discussion just that little bit further and we landed on the interesting subject of mythology. We were able to link the language we were practising to talk about similarities and also differences in cultures and how they have affected our perspectives and attitudes to life over the centuries. An extremely enjoyable session, Many Thanks Yasuko.

Dear Yasuko, another 5 star lesson in which I sincerely trust I managed to challenge you a little and continue on the right road &in the right direction to improving you knowledge of the English language. The conversation flowed naturally with good humour and as always a pleasurable experience. Enjoy the exercises I sent you, the goal is to consolidate and remind of language that might not otherwise come up during the course of the session. My thanks for a very enjoyable 45 minutes. Kindest Regards, Francis.

Dear Yasuko, this session was, as always a pleasure. Afterwards and on reflection, I asked myself "what can't you talk about" but sincerely hope that some of the expressions and extra vocabulary we share will prove beneficial for you. I very much enjoyed answering the questions you so well put and realise that this is an area in which you can progress even more. I look forward to the next session with anticipation, Many Thanks, Kindest regards, Francis.

Dear Yasuko, a wonderfully challenging lesson for both. I noted in particular that you had more confidence in your own skills and ability to converse well. An interesting and well managed 45 minutes. Most of all, I appreciated your intuitive ability to question & pick up on the my expressions and use of the English language. All in all, and as always, a very enjoyable & engaging session covering a multitude of topics. You are an exceptionally good conversationalist and a pleasure to talk with, Kindest Regards, Francis.

Dear Yasuko, a truly good session. All that because of a shoe!! I was very happy not to hear a "Hmm" during the entire 45 minutes. Congratulations for remembering. You were able to motivate and keep the conversation flowing for the duration & used all the necessary linguistic skills to do so. Your constant changes in intonation & pitch work well to prompt rich reciprocal conversation. Many thanks for such an enjoyable lesson, Kindest Regards, Francis.

Very natural & fluent conversation on Yasuko's behalf during this lesson. I was happy with the lack of pauses throughout and appreciated Yasuko's efforts to keep the conversation coherent. I also appreciated Yasuko's manner when asking questions or for clarification/elaboration on particular points. Thanks to Yasuko's knowledge of the language, she comes across as unobtrusive, polite and interested. This naturally helps the person with whom she's conversing to sense her genuine interest and gives them the confidence to speak openly. Yet again, during the course of conversation, we managed to ellicit more advanced collocations and expressions to help develop lexique and fluency. A very enjoyable and beneficial session where I noticed sure progress.

Time flies when you're having fun! I really enjoyed our chat even though it was a little bit of a red herring. Today we talked about the pitiful condition of Italian universities. We also continued the topic of English literature but quickly went off on a tangent about role models. Here are some expressions that came up today: That's the way the cookie crumbles, theoretically, the brain drain, red herring. Good authors: Roald Dahl, Ruth Rendall. I look forward to our next session. Best, Stephen.

Hello Yasuko. Today we started the English Literature topic. You seem to have lots of things to say on this topic, which is great. Today we brainstormed why reading is important and the different book genres that exist: thriller, biography, fantasy, science fiction, fiction, autobiography, detective, children's. Here are some words and expressions that came up today: flowery, wise, too far removed from reality, it's a book that has stood the test of time. That's all for the time being. We will continue with this topic next time. I look forward to seeing you again. Best, Stephen.

Another very good session, where yet again, Yasuko managed to surprise me with her ability to enjoy, follow & develop spontaneous conversation without prior preparation. Even though a little destabilising, I enjoyed Yasuko's reactions to an exercise dealing with what to say in difficult situations. This proved an interesting exercise on how to introduce hypothesis to conversation which no doubt we'll come across in sessions to follow. Many thanks to Yasuko for a thoroughly enjoyable lesson

It was great to speak with you again, Yasuko. I always enjoy our chats together. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you that can make your Myngle experience more enjoyable. Today we almost finished the Computers topics (we might continue on this topic for another half a lesson or so). Here are some words/expressions that came up: on the same level of complexity as, a completely different kettle of fish, it's better than nothing. Remember to say 'that's right' instead of 'in fact'. That's all for the time being, Yasuko. I look forward to another session soon (hopefully with an audible voice). Best, Stephen.
