We tried to tackle a huge topic today, but your solution rather takes care of all the pros and cons we might have discussed: "always look on the bright side of life!" (Do you know that song?)

“Fuchs, du hast die Gans gestohlen” is a little violent for my sensibilities, but I appreciate the suggestion, and am looking forward to hearing more about the East-West sporting relationships and your perspective on the Olympics!

Thank you for your insightful commentary on Johnson’s piece. Let me know which debate topic you prefer for our next lesson ☺

From a US perspective, Chinese seems a far cry from what we should be learning in schools, but we should perhaps refrain from passing judgment. ;) Thanks for sharing your perspectives on education, both linguistic & mathematical. Wishing you a wonderful trip to the Haag!

Nice work on the prepositions at the end: I believe you will pick up the nuances and breadth of meaning quickly when you put your mind to it! Even if the meanings of these words are evolving along with English, it is important at least to know what they can do now ☺

It was a pleasure meeting you today, Wilfried! By the way, you translated the Kierkegaard quote quite well: not that I can judge the Danish, but the accepted English translation is: “You can only understand life backwards, but we must live it forwards.”
